My Grandjack

This is my Grandjack. Isn't he just the most handsome Grandjack? His name was John Henry and went by Jack but since he became a Grandpa... when I was born, everyone stopped calling him Jack, so we changed his name. Grandjack he's always been. This is my mom's daddy. Anyway, he passed away on March 10. He's my first immediate family member to pass away. He had Alzheimers so has been slowly fading for several years, but it was still hard to let him go. This photo was taken on his 50th wedding anniversary, which was just about 10 years ago. My Grammie has been with Grandjack since she was 16, and they were married almost 60 years. That's a lot of life together. They had 6 children, 5 boys and 1 girl, my mama. I am the eldest grandchild, and Morgan is his eldest great grandchild. That's very cool.

I had family staying with me for most of the week, and since my grandparents are Catholic, there were services and mass on Saturday, but he wasn't buried until Monday, St Patrick's Day. It's been emotionally exhausting and I'm glad to see he finally found his resting place. He was loved very much by many people.
