Echo Park love - Stitch and Out Here

I've got a few things to share this week and I'm getting behind!  I started student teaching in a 4/5 blend class on Monday and I get home and make dinner and get ready for the next day.  I keep forgetting to blog.  :)

I am truly enjoying my time on the Echo Park team.  I'm so glad that opportunity came my way.

The other day I shared a layout on the Echo Park blog that I wanted to share here.  I am a little addicted to the For the Record Two - Tailored Collection, (available for purchase now) as I've mentioned a few times, lol.  This is what I came up with for my blog post:

A note, though.  Morgan made that penguin all by herself.  Payton and I made a tooth pillow because she had a couply of wigglers and refused to let them come out until they had a proper pillow.  Inspired by that, Morgan went and made her own.  Alllll by herself.  It's made of felt.  I offered assistance with ideas when it came to stuffing and stiching it closed, but the design and the process was all hers and I couldn't have been more proud!  The tooth goes in the little heart pocket.

Why is Morgan second to get a tooth pillow?  Because Morgan has had 10 teeth pulled by her dentist, and hasn't lost any on her own, and Mom has never had her act together at the appropriate time to finish a pillow at the appropriate moment.  SIGH.  In the end, this worked out perfectly!

In case her wondering, for some reason her adult teeth don't eat up the roots of the baby teeth.  Morgan has a friendly mouth.  All teeth are perfectly happy to move over or stick out in order to make room for their friends.  Hello ORTHODONTIA.  Now you see why Mama has to go back to school for her Master's degree!  This crafting business does NOT pay the bills.  lol.

Anyway, back to Echo.

I still had product out so made another layout with this same line:

I've mentioned my obsession with this paper line.  I'm also smitten with these triangle shapes and had to use them on a layout.  I LOVE the texture it adds.  I've mentioned before how much I like the print with the journaling spots.  I used a circle punch and added a few to this layout as well.

That's Morgan, Payton, Oliver the kitty, and Sunshine the chicken.  We have ourselves a little farm over here.  :)  For the record, (how appropriate), Sunshine pecked at Oliver shortly after this photo was taken, and chaos ensued.  :)

Project {Hello} Summer mini album - the end of the season

It's here!  Labor Day and the official last day of summer vacation at the Fiero house!  School started for me last week, but student teaching begins this week, and I'm so NERVOUS and excited!  This is where I find out if I can cut it.  Was Grad School the right choice?  Is this the career path I've been searching for that is right for me?  I put teachers on such a high pedestal.  I can't even call my girls' teachers by their first name.  To know I'm finishing up something where I'll be Mrs Fiero to another child is overwhelming to me.  It really is.  It's like a dream.  That must mean it's the right thing for me to do!

Today I wanted to share more pages from my Project {Hello} Summer mini album.  I can honestly tell you I have really enjoyed the process and doing this album fits into my life perfectly, so I will definitely be doing it again next year.  I hope you'll join me!

The first layout I wanted to share was one from a hike we went on.  I've decided to keep the whole album consistent with Instagram photos.  If I want to do a layout about our adventures, I'll use regular photos then. It makes things much simpler.

I also kept things simple by using just a background stamp along with some die cuts.  Die cuts are the key embellishment to this project because they don't add a lot of bulk but do add interest and a little pop to each page.  

I'm obsessed with Kelly Purkey's geotag stamp, so it too is a staple to my album.

The title was cut with my Silhouette.  

This next page was about swimming.  We did that a lot this summer.  Only one round of lessons this year, but then a lot of time was spent at a resort down the road with a couple of pool choices.  My kids are turning into little fish this year.

Speaking of fish, this next page captured a trip to a local fish hatchery.  This album is a family album, so I had to include artwork from my girls.  They were having an educational day learning about the life cycle of local fish, and my kids got to do this little fish prints.  I had to include them here.  I love this kind of stuff.

Again, I used my Silhouette for the title, my KP hashtag stamp, and some ephemera on this page. The rainbow chevron paper is my FAVORITE piece of paper from the summer CHA release.  It's from the Sweetest Thing / Tangerine Collection from My Minds Eye.  I just adore this print.  

Who doesn't have a fair layout every year?  In the past I've always lugged my big camera around, in 100 degree temperatures, and this year I just left my girl at home and used my camera.  I had more fun with my family and yet still managed to capture the essence of our day.  

Payton drew a picture of her favorite ride on one of the journaling pages, which is a great addition to our book.  The kraft was cut with my Silhouette (and a great file I found at the Silhouette store), and I just blocked the page with faovorite photos from our day.  

Morgan is in LOVE with the tilt-a-whirl, Payton loved the swings, they both loved the bears, and fair rides are dang expensive so Steve and I are in a selfie.  ha!  It's the only way to document myself in our life it seems. 

The next event I wanted to share is a little triathlon my kids participated in.  It was called the Li'l Rat Race.  Locally we have the RAT race (Redmond Area Triathlon) and this was a fun way to include kids 10 and under.  They had a water obstacle course, a 1 mile bike ride, and a run to the finish.  My girls were number 261 and 262.  I had to keep their racing bibs!

I trimmed the number circles with my Cameo.  3 for the 3 events.  I tried to use photos of both girls.  It was crazy that day.  The event wasn't set up well for photo takers, lol.  Payton was in the first heat and it went so quickly I got most photos of her.  That said, Morgan was super quick, and even though she took a fall in the bike to run exchange, she muscled on and sprinted across the finish line.  She did awesome!

The design on this page included a stamp set from the Heyday Collection from Studio Calico.  I used my AC stamp markers to create the fun detail.  I outlined a couple of the arrows with my precision pen, just because.  The title again was cut with my Silhouette, and you'll notice I used the same corrugated alphas I used earlier in my book.

As I'v said, I've had a lot of fun with this album.  I didn't put pressure on myself to finish pages, and I didn't scrap in order either.  I'm still buttoning up a few events, but overall, I'm super happy with how it's turned out and can't wait to do it again next year.

Studio Calico love - Winter 78

Even though I'm only 29 (snort), I stumbled upon these photos of me with my dad in Alaska where I was born in the winter of 1978 and had to get them down on a scrapbook layout.

My project:

My favorite part about my Cameo is not the number of shapes it can cut, but the size.  I've mentioned before my love for the large doily.  I'm digging the snowflakes too.

I print my own photos so trimmed them to look like polaroids because of how old the images are.  My sister has been scanning old photos to get them in a digital format and emailed me these.  I think they look pretty good, considering.  

I'm starting to dig the look of splattered Huey, so used Clay and Dewey on this layout, along with a prints from all three of the last release from Studio Calico.

There was an issue with shipping, so only a couple of ladies and those going to CHA have had a chance to work with the newest product.  I can't wait to play with it myself!  I had to satisfy my craving by fondling what I already have, and a nice Chevron has a way of calming a girl down, lol.

I also added veneer asterisks, because they have always been snowflakes for me.  I love 'em.

Blogging my projects: Studio Calico's Daydream Believer

Hi there!  Busy weekend in these parts.  I had an all day workshop for school on Saturday.  Can I tell how how validating it is to be in this program?  I was in class all day and came home energized, not exhausted.  It's so great to actually FEEL like I'm doing the right thing.

My wish for you is to feel the same, no matter what it is you are doing.

Studio Calico's Daydream Believer went on sale on Friday, and I hope you had a chance to peek at it or pick up an add-on if that's your inclination.  I got all of them.  I loved that there was new CHAW12 product in this kit, and I don't have an LSS, so letting April choose what I'll be working with is perfectly fine by me.  I have enough going on, and no scrapbook store.  It makes sense to do one-stop shopping, because as a working mom, my free time is precious.

My Projects:

First I wanted to share my main kit only project for the month.  We were in a really big time crunch for sneaks, so I created a card.  I'm fortunate in that cards are easy for me to create, so this didn't take a lot of time, which was good.  

This main kit is full of new and delicious products, with custom pieces as well as new CHAW12 product from Dear Lizzy and Pebbles.  The main kit is still available, so I encourage you to check it out here.  That butterfly is from an Etsy shop.  Isn't it sweet?  I also adore the SC woodgrain with the hearts.  Such a great shade of brown too.

This next one was obviously in honor of the New Year.  I was trying to get a photo of the kiddlets in those fancy New Years party hats I made, and the result was a glimpse at their personalities that I just adore so much I had to use them all on a layout.  

I stamped with the alpha in Stepping Stone, #4, and I also took advantage of the fabulousness that is my Cameo, and created the title with it.  I am in love with the thing.  I know there are tons of die cut machines out there, but this seriously is the most user friendly thing I have ever purchased.  I can utilize any shape I want, make it any size simply by dragging out the corner, and click and drag to move it anywhere I want it to be printed on my paper.  SO easy to use.  I think the font I used for this title was "this and that" from the Silhouette store.  

Some extra fun on this layout?  Stamping with JBS ink and using my Cropadile to add a confetti effect.  Super easy.

This next one was my favorite layout of the month.  A lot of products from the main kit, that Dear Lizzy polkadot being the definite favorite.  THAT is my favorite shade of brown.  Oh my, love it and the gray undertones.

Obviously with Morgan's birthday being last week I had to do something birthday related.  I haven't had a chance to edit and share tutu and handmade leg warmer photos yet, or the roller rink party either, but I did get a photo of her that day to use in a layout to summarize her special day.

Yes, that's my living room!  That's my sideboard.  I adore this piece but someday there will be a true fireplace there.  

This garland was easy to create and I'll be back with a bit more on that.  Know that none of it was done on the Cameo though.  I hand cut or used a punch.

I have heard of these but they only very recently appeared in the SC shop to pick up.  My Fiskars mini scallop punch has finally reached it's end, so I've been on the hunt for a new scallop.  The starter punch set comes with something akin to the Apron Lace, which is also fine, so during one of my multiple checkouts on Friday (oh yes, I do it too), I picked this up as well.  That and the tiny attacher, because it's about time, and the MME and new SC stamp sets that will work great in my Project Life and Project 12 album, which I need to get around to sharing with y'all too.  Oh my.
