Studio Calico, March

Here are my layouts and cards for the March kit at Studio Calico. Amazingly, there are still a couple of kits left, and I think that there are a couple of add-ons left too. I purchased the Carousel add-on with my kit this month, and that one is sold out, but I was sent a few things from the Spoonful of Sugar add-on, and I wish I had purchased that. I trimmed out the butterflies and birds from the American Crafts paper, and it was such a soft, girlie touch with the black and white. So if you wanted a kit but hadn't had the chance to get one yet, this is your month! I LOVED this kit.

This is one of my swap layouts. I thought this photo was so pretty. Thank you Kelly for the opportunity to scrap your daughter! And this layout is going to go to Australia. So cool to have my work in another country!

For my butterfly trail, I first laid out my flowers. I knew I wanted one of the hooks to wrap around a bloom, so I laid out the flowers and my title, and then penciled in the path. Then I took everything off and handstitched it. I like the movement it gives the layout.

This is my second swap layout, Heather's little girl Ruby. SO cute. And the journaling could have been something my Morgan would have said, so it was very easy to create this layout. And Morgan was quite confused when she saw me creating it. She had to take a couple of second glances to be sure the photo wasn't her. lol

For fun on this one, I glued all of the damask pattern and then covered it with pink glitter. It added a nice touch, I think.

This is my sweet PJ at one month old. She was one month premature, so her first month on Earth was spent sleeping. Seriously. We barely saw that girl's eyes open for the first month, except at meal time. It was very exciting when she started staying awake and interacting with us.
The Carousel add-on comes with a vintage coaster found in an antique store. It was very cool. I was able to easily trim it in half with my paper trimmer for this layout.

I also trimmed one of the "Say it with Crystals" from Prima in half so I could layer it around my Making Memories brad and the bow, so that it could be seen on top of the chipboard flower. Another fun detail and the touch of bling compliments the little bling cherry I have on the top half of the coaster. And instead of trying to hand cut a scallop or using my scallop blade on my Fiskars Desktop rotary trimmer, I just used a circle punch and trimmed out some circles, and then layered them back in behind the paper and stitched.

This layout cracks me up. I was trying to work at the computer and Morgan dragged her comforter off her bed and draped it over the arm of my armoire and she and Payton were hanging out underneath. I thought our conversation was so cute that I had to document it, even though the pictures weren't that great. That's why I converted them to black and white. And that's what scrapbooking is all about, right?

I used the Daisy D's rubon stitches aroundmy perimeter and then machine stitched over them. I have heard some negative feedback from consumers about these rubon stitches, but I had no problem at all. You just need to be light with it, don't push too hard, and it works best on a slick surface, so maybe not on textured Bazzill. That's some of the new Tinkering Ink there, the Wild Woodland that was just released at CHA.

I LOVE Collage Press and there was some of the Margot Collection in this month's kit. I saved it and paired it with some MM and more AC butterflies that I trimmed out for this card. The pink strip is a border sticker by Making Memories that I trimmed to fit.

I found an ancient square punch for this card. And I trimmed the larger squares on my paper trimmer. A fun and easy Hello card.
I had tons of fun with this kit and just heard about a couple of contents from next month's kit. And here's a teeny tiny hint between you and me. I was working the Pink Paislee booth at CHA when April and Scarlet came in.... and they may have placed an order with me that perhaps would go into the April kit at Studio Calico.... And here's an even bigger hint, for those two people that read my blog.... the product that they purchased involved the right side of the booth. :)
Have a great weekend!
