Looking-Glass

I just loved the October kit from Studio Calico! It was called Looking-Glass. I purchased all three add-ons this month.

This first layout called Dust Ruffle is my favorite from this month. I just love that bald spot on the back of Payton's head!

The subject of this layout was the perfect opportunity to create a great big ruffle with some Basic Grey paper. I also added flowers that were aptly named Aleida's Garden flowers this month, in honor of the passing of one of our members. Apparently Scarlet hand-made them all. I can't imagine how much work went into that!

When we were at the Guest Ranch this summer my girls had a chance to ride their first horse. They were both in LOVE and Payton didn't want to get off. This horse was called Pirate because he lost an eye as a baby, and my kiddos loved that name! We even have horses next door, but it wasn't until they actually rode one that they became obsessed. Family likes to joke that we'll end up with one because we have a couple of acres, but I know nothing about horse care so we'll just go with riding one every once in a while and hope that it satisfies them, lol. For now, I made them a little book so that they could flip through the pictures of themselves and their newfound love.

A quick and easy card with some of the fun Basic Grey paper in this month's kit. I love those little butterflies!

This layout was inspired by Aleida this month. I wanted to do a layout with a family photo in it, letting my hubby and my girls know that they are the world to me. I was inspired by the trees in the Sassafras paper to make my own trees for this layout. And that blue paper from Basic Grey's Offbeat Collection was my favorite piece of paper in the whole kit this month.

My garden was a sad state of affairs this year but we did have one volunteer sunflower. I promise that next year it will look much better, lol!

With this layout I was inspired by the Fancy Pants paper to make my stitched fluorish at the top, carrying the design up through the layout.

Payton doesn't like to have her hair brushed, so I took her to a kid's salon for a new do in the hopes of finding something that looked cute when it wasn't in a clip. This one has worked so far! I used another Scarlet floral creation on this one, but I did add a pink circle to bring together the design of incorporating her lollipop into the layout. I also used the exclusive SC stamp and stamped it twice on cardstock in pink before trimming it out and using it as a scallop border here.

This last card used the last chipboard page in the Maya Road book and a sticker sentiment from 7 Gypsies.

Thanks for taking a peek! I hope you managed to pick up a kit or an add-on if you were looking for one!

P.S. Today is the last day for the stamp challenge I issued at the SC blog. If you have any of the SC exclusive stamps, don't miss your chance for a Stazon ink pad and a little RAK from me.

Have a great day! Davinie
