I'm rolling in the Christmas spirit with a little Perry Como

lol! Boy does my family get tired of this CD. It's only 29 minutes long so I have a tendency to replay it over and over during the holiday season. True, I mix in other music, but he's such a classic. I'm a fan of the classic stuff. I do have a Celine Dion Christmas CD from several years ago, but mostly, I like listening to the old stuff.

Well, Thanksgiving went well. The pumpkin roll was a huge hit, as it usually is, and the Pecan Pie disappeared too, much to my surprise. I'll have to make them again! It was a nice weekend spending time with family we don't see all the time, and my kids had such a great visit that they'd be crying at bedtime, they were so worn out. My SIL's kids are all older than they are, so they really enjoyed playing with the big kids.

I went shopping for a bit on Friday with my mil and sil, and we hit up Target and Kohls. And a coffee stand. lol I didn't get as much as I was hoping for, but I did tick a few things off my list. Morgan is a huge fan of putting on her own makeup and nail polish. She usually locks herself in the bathroom and spreads out a towel on the floor. I usually have her hide herself away because of Payton. Anyway, I picked her up a Hannah Montana styling head. You can do her hair, her makeup, and she even has hands so you can paint those too. I imagine those two will get into a lot of trouble during their cosmetic play. She'll love it.

Before I go I wanted to post my work for Studio Calico this month. I really liked this kit and still have it out because I'm using it for my December Daily album. If you haven't started one of these albums, it is absolutely not too late, and I highly recommend it. It has really helped me get into the Christmas spirit. I want the album to be festive the whole time which means I have to get my act together and be festive the whole time too! That said, I can't believe it's December already! Boy the year has traveled fast.
Anyway... for fun the DT swapped photos and I got sweet Kelly's Noel's little man, Brady. You betcha, that's another Bazzill stitching template there. I just LOVE them!

I had already planned to use a baby Payton photo, and since I already had Brady with the hat on, I opted for Payton and the Christmas dress. In 2006 I had both girls in the same dress, and I've scrapped Morgan in hers twice already, but for some reason, I haven't scrapped Payton in her dress during our little photo shoot. She was so wiggly that it was hard to get a picture of her, but I just love the one she let me take!
I stamped the lace edge stamp on the brown packaging with creamy white paint and then trimmed it out and layered them as a ruffle of sorts. I only adhered them at the top so that they would stand out from the background.

Because I was already in a winter/Christmas kick, I decided to do a winter layout for layout #3. I just love this October Afternoon paper! They match my winter kiddos so well, lol!

I printed a snowflake dingbat and traced it on the back of my canvas. Then I trimmed it out and painted it. This canvas was really easy to trim and I didn't have any trouble with any of the small nooks and cranny's.

I didn't want my whole gallery to be Christmas/Winter, so I made one layout about my sweet PJ with a lot of the Basic Grey product in this month's kit. I often wonder about Payton. She's a lot like me, but I am the eldest of 4 and she's the youngest of 2. I wonder what her personality would have been like if she had been the big sister. I think that's part of our problem with the "terribles". She's not the eldest, and has to make her voice heard in her own way.

I trimmed canvas with a scallop to use above and below the vintage hotel receipt.

After layouts I had to make a couple of cards. Not wanting to waste the wonderful canvas, I used the "negative" from my scallop on the previous layout for this card.

And I had to make a Christmas card with the Sassafras. Nik is afraid of the narwhal's, lol, so I was really hoping to draw her for the photo swapp. I was going to put her next to one, but alas, I didn't get to have my fun.

I did get the project kit which also came with some fun acrylic shapes. Because of the fun colors in the October Afternoon paper, and the colors in my daughter's jackets and Christmas dresses last year, I decided to go with a photo ornament to document 2007. I backed the acrylic with paper and my photo, and then used the October Afternoon rubond directly on the acrylic. They worked like buttah', as they say.

I used the canvas and Claudine's paint for my little trees, with some of the Basic Grey chipboard circles for ornaments.

And last, because I was still feeling holiday, I made a new garland for my shabby hall tree.

I used my Slice for the poinsetta shaped flowers.... and I'm not sure yet what to say about it. Let's just say I think my Slice might be crazy, and I'm hoping it's just a phase. I really want to LOVE it. I just adore the Noteworthy cartridge and all the designs. And the font. And the flowers. And the frame.... well, you get the idea. So I'm holding out hope and crossing my fingers.

Have a great day! I'm hoping to work on Payton's Christmas stocking and my December daily alubm tonight after the kiddos head to bed. I'll be back tomorrow with my cover and maybe my 12/1 post.

Have a great day!

  2. A couple suggestions to add to your "classic" Christmas albums: "The Christmas Spirit" by Johnny Cash, and the Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass Christmas album. Both classics.
