Project 12 June in July

Welcome to the July edition of Project 12!  Those familiar with the challenge don't need the schpiel but if you are new to playing along, check out the Project 12 tab up top for details.  We'd love to have you!

Becky had a great sketch to play with for our May photos.  I really liked the use of squares.  It made it easier to choose the photos to play with.  As a reminder, here's that May sketch:

And this is what I came up with for May:

I mixed a couple of Studio Calico kits on this layout.  It's fun to play in the stash a bit.  I am still a huge fan of using different patterned papers for my background with kraft on top.  I sometimes have a hard time putting a photo on a busy piece of paper, so like the neutral quality of kraft to separate everything.

May was busy but not in the photo department, so this sketch worked perfectly for me!  I also had a lot of fun with some washi tape from a past SC kit....  I need to stop forgetting to use it, lol.

I like using my pendant pieces, so used them en lieu of flowers on the lower right, and grounded them on a piece of tape.  I chose this shape because of the zig zag border punch I used.  I like to keep that part consistent on my layouts.

As for submissions this month,

LOVE the kids on this one.

The Secret journaling box on this one is a super cute idea for that Crate chipboard!

Facebook updates for journaling!  So smart.
Perfect sun rays.

LOVE this one.  I love she was inspired by the patterned paper border for her orange circles.  DElish.

Hand stitched flowers!  With french knots!  I'm so glad someone tried to replicate the flowers from the sketch.  They are so perfect for May.

It's a busy time of year, well, every day seems to be busy, but I hope you are enjoying the challenge and I thank you again for playing along!

Now that it's July it's time to scrap those June photos, so check out the sketch:

I love the square photos on this one.  That means i won't have to think about orientation when taking photos which will make it easier to choose which photos to use.

As always, you have until the 28th to leave a post here or at the SCT blog if you want in for a prize.  I'm going to try REAAAAALLY hard to get my layout posted on the 21st, so you can see what I've done if that'll help, and then you'll have another week to get your layout in (if you don't beat me, and sometimes people are making layouts and posting them on the first, so some of you are bound to do so!).

Take care!  Have a great July!

Davinie

  1. I am still playing catch up on older photos, so these are actually from September. The number of photos worked great with the sketch.

  2. I too am a big fan of using Kraft and that has been the one consistent thing on my layouts...until June! It's killing me to not use Kraft, but white is much better with the PPs I have chosen.

You've inspired me to not worry about my left base paper matching the right base...sometimes I really like one design but don't have for a double pager.

Thanks for these monthly challenges! Sometimes it's the only page I get done all month, but considering that I didn't scrap much at all in all of 2009, that's a big difference! The P12 challenge is ensuring that I actually get something crafty done, and I appreciate it. :)
