and it was my very last kit as a Design Team member. Having been on the team for 5 years this month, it's hard to fathom life without this club. I'm not even sure what to do with myself, lol!
Check out the main kit:
As I mentioned with my sneaks, I picked up 5 & Dime and Drive-In. I also picked up more SC paper, as usual. Such a great way to add extra and fill out the main kit.
Speaking of the main kit, I think this last kit contains my favorite main kit only layout to date:
I didn't want to clog this post with a tutorial so I will have that for you this weekend. As I've also mentioned, I'll have a cut file for you as well.
The font for this layout title is Pacifico, which you can download for free on the internet.
Next up is the reason you want to consider the Drive-In add-on:
I looked at that cross-stitch paper and said AMPERSAND. Don't let this little guy fool you, however. It took me Batman Begins to get this baby stitched and trimmed. I completely underestimated the time. But I enjoyed the process so much I'm going to be stalking the site to get more of this paper. I hope Heidi made it in different colors! I adore it and will be using it again. Addicted.
I have to say, I really enjoyed playing with the Crystals in the main kit. I think I used them on just a bout everything. I loved that they were white, that they added dimension, and acted as mist splatters without making for a messy layout. Definitely loved that embellishment.
Let me tell you about this card. I saw that Chevron stamp and immediately purchased the AC stamp markers in the primary colors because I saw that a rainbow would work perfectly with this kit. The Five & Dime stamp is rubber, of course, and this image for this card was the very first stamp it made. I could have re-inked it got a more crisp image, but I loved it anyway so went for it. Did I end up with an upside down rainbow on my card here? maybe, lol. But I still love it.
Added some more of those crystal dots too...
One more card rounded out my kit work this month:
I stitched up a vellum envelope, filled it with confetti, and added some sweet dreams. :) I trimmed those hearts out freehand. I trimmed the sentiment with my Cameo. It's the Lobster Two font. I have been using a lot of Pacifico lately. For some reason I'm addicted to the cursive. But I wanted to find something else to use and this was it. It's a new favorite.
And that's it! You have no idea how much it has meant to me to provide some sort of crafty inspiration for you over the years at Studio Calico. SC has been a huge part of my life. It's definitely going to be different going forward, but I am doing different things, trying new things, and finishing that degree, and am ready for a change. I hope you'll stick around though. The crafting hasn't ended. I'm about to put together that tutorial and that cut file for my main kit layout, first of all. ;) I also have some other new things on my plate that I'll be able to share soon.
Enjoy watching the Olympics!

I CANNOT BELIEVE you painstakingly stitched that ampersand! Gosh! I'll miss seeing your SC LOs. You'll still be using SC kits too, right? Even though you're not

ReplyDeleteWhat an original idea the cross-stitched paper is ♥ Would you mind telling me what line (Heidi?) of paper / website/ link where it can be obtained? I would love to give it a try (I do traditional cs and the embellishment idea totally appeals to me. Thank you - and best wishes with all your future endeavors. For now, enjoy the time off.
