Studio Calico - November kit

Oh my gosh, the November kit is delicious! After I have already used some of this product on one project, I have thoughts in my head of other things I can do, so I might need to go out and buy more! Seriously!

This one is 8 1/2 x 11. I layered the BG chipboard tree on some of that SEI paper.... it was amazing how the shape of the pattern just about fit the tree exactly! This is one of our pumpkins from last year. Morgan had ZERO interest in carving or scooping goo, so when we were finished I let her have at it with paint. We did it again this year and it works out really well! The kids dig it.

I've been saving these photos of Payton forever... I just love these photos of her and Steve. She's just about a week or so old here.... her eyes aren't even quite focused on her daddy yet, but it was super cute to watch their interaction. Because my BG alphas were blue, I wanted to add a bit of blue to my layout, so I whipped out some DMC floss and highlighted the heart in the Fancy Pants felt and then stitched on my bracket as well. It really brings it together, I think. And I think the blue was a perfect touch, because even though it isn't on the patterned paper anywhere, it just goes really well with the layout.

I live in the high desert, and we just don't have slugs around here. So when we saw some while camping with friends at the coast, Morgan was quite enthralled. Even though her pale little face has a great big sunburn on it, I love this photo because I thought it really told the story well... she's describing little slug antennae. Very cool. I loved the BG tree paper, so I trimmed the tree out of some Scenic Route paper and layed it on it's side to go with it. I thought it was fun, and the "trunk" of the tree was a nice element to the bottom of the layout. I used the FP felt photo corners to bring the three photos together. I'm also a huge fan of printing my photos at home and trimming them out a little bit bigger than the photo... my own photo mat of sorts.

One of my cards. Again, loving the pattern in the orange/red paper... thought it would look elegant against the brown/white pattern.... and because of that blue alpha I used my floss again. To mix it up there are actually only four stitches on this card. I went corner to corner. I thought that was a different and fun touch! I also added Fancy Pants ribbon and a fun heart pin to finish it off.

For my last card I used some 7 Gypsies and Sassafras Lass paper with some BG chipboard, a Fancy Pants butterfly, and some more of those blue alphas. There is a touch of blue in the main pattern paper so I didn't feel like I had to tie it in somewhere else with floss.... lol.

Lastly, I really wanted to alter a fall project with this kit. I picked up this basket from Walmart and ripped it apart and then added my paper strips. It was REALLY easy. I just trimmed strips in various widths and then mod podged them around the whole basket, layering them. It made a huge difference to the basket and is a really nice addition to my holiday decor.

Phew! That's it for Studio Calico! I have more projects to share tomorrow... along with a very swift and easy card I made to share some of Morgan's artwork for Halloween, that utilized some old stash and took advantage of some WORLDWIN Crafty Creations kraft tag cards and envelopes that I won in a RAK on the WORLDWIN blog. I also saw the yummiest recipe for chocolate chip pumpkin bread, so I'll share that as well.

Have a good night!
