Back in the swing of things

Why is it that when you go out of town for a few days, it takes you a good week to get back on schedule? egads! I still have a ton of laundry to do, and it's getting warmer, so between wet clothes and swimsuits, the kids are going through more outfits on a daily basis than they normally do too. Good thing we have those laundry sorters! AND I just got a new washer and dryer! Front loaders! Heaven! lol

Morgan went on a field trip on Monday. They went to the Peterson Rock Garden, which I was really excited about. It has been there a LONG time and even I visited there when I was young. It had been so long I was wondering if I would recognize the place, and after having been there, some of it did come back to me. Someone spent a lot of time on those creations! The best part, according to the kiddos, was the peacocks. Or as Payton put it, the Peacups. It is mating season right now, so there was a lot of chirping, and those boys were busy showing their goods by spreading their wings. They were very pretty and the kids were quite infatuated with them.

Tuesday was her last day of Preschool for the year. She doesn't understand that, it was just another day at school for her, even if there were more parent's there and she had homemade icecream which is normally a no-no, lol, but I was a little bummed! A couple of her friends won't be returning next year, so it was a little sad to say goodbye. But we have an exciting summer planned. She's taking swim lessons starting next week, and our County Library has a great summer reading program planned with lots of local entertainment too. So I am excited about that. The best part? It's FREE. Love that.

So that's my week. Besides the laundry, lol.

Sneak night for Studio Calico was last night. Lots of delicious product in the upcoming July kit, including tons of Making Memories Passport. So delicious! I had one teeny little niblet of a sneak in the slideshow last night, and I'll share that with you. I am mostly showing product from the second add-on, Tokyo:

Vintage looking trims and some yummy newsprint Primas! And la-di-dah, look at that button! Scrumptious!

On another scrappy note, I was asked to be the Guest Designer at Magistical Memories this month. What an honor it was to be contacted! I received a fun little package of goodies, and the first one I decided to play with was the Retro Concave Open Border. I trimmed it to fit my 8 1/2 x 11 layout and then used it as frames for some of my Goldie fishie photos, and then backed it with some patterned paper. The rest of the patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket's Hey Sugar line. I just love this line, and it meshes with the new Honey Pie line a bit... I used one of the journaling cards from that line for my journaling here. I also mixed in some acrylic alphas from Making Memories, and some Pink Paislee alphas... which I use. A LOT. I finished it off with some hand stitched fishies, because I had to hand stitch somewhere.

For fun I thought I'd take the girls to the pet store. I didn't have any plans to buy anything, just look around and check out the birds, the gerbils and such. However, we somehow walked out with a fishbowl and a very pretty Beta fish. The kids are just in love with this little guy. Morgan named it right away. Her Highness Princess Goldie, she said. But after we got home and I went to set up the fishbowl, I noticed it said... male. lol

So.... our little girlie man lives in a turquoise and pink castle, and he seems to love it there, lol. He does his job entertaining the girls by eating food and spitting it out, which they love to watch, and except for ME having to clean the darn bowl every week or so, it has worked out just fine. The bowl sits on top the entertainment center, so the kids always say hello if they are watching cartoons or passing on by. It has worked out well.

Lastly is one of my projects with Pink Paislee for this month. I just love how well PP gets along with others, lol. I mixed it here with some Around the Block patterned paper and a bit of Making Memories Garden Party. There's a touch of Worldwin cardstock and some frilly May Arts ribbon too.

Speaking of Pink Paislee.... oh my I have had a glimpse of the summer release and it is to die for. And wouldn't you know it but Rebecca put a little peek on the Pink Paislee blog. You can check that out here. Isn't it just delicious?!

I'll leave you with one last Morgan pic. She needed a bigger helmet so we bought her a princess helmet with knee pads for our camping trip. She loved it so much she barely took it off, whether she was biking or not, lol. So this is what you mostly saw of her: Morgan, helmet and knee pads, and her fishing pole. And I thought we needed a boy. That girl may be wearing pink, but she is a tomboy through and through, and is all over the idea of hangin' with dad. Love that about her.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! If you haven't done so already, make a special daddy in your life a Father's Day card! If you need an idea, I made one as a bonus idea for my June/July article at True North Parenting. You can check it out here.

Take care!

  3. What a cool place to visit (rock garden). I've never been to a place like that. Very cool, I really love the photo of the peacock. How often is it that you see there feathers out like that.

I have no idea which adds on I want. Well beside ALL of them. I have to narrow it down. LOL
