More Studio Calico July and Independence Day treats!

I almost forgot to post the rest of my Studio Calico layouts so thought I'd get them in here. This month the DT was challenged with looking through the gallery at SC and choosing a layout from one of our talented members to lift. I knew right away which one I wanted. Miss Emily Pitts, simple scrapper extraodinaire. had posted this layout a few months ago. It was called She Always Knows and was made with the Farm Fresh kit. I have loved it forever so was very excited to participate in this challenge! I don't normally lift... well, except myself, lol.

I really liked how Emily did her title work and the circle at the top.

I also really liked how she did her journaling, and with the photos lined up as they were, I thought it was the perfect design for photos of Payton doing her first rolls.

As usual, I also made a couple of cards with this kit. I used some leftover bits from the die cut MM paper for this one, along with my trusty Martha Stewart punch.

I just love the Technique Tuesday chipboard! I just inked it a little bit for this card. They don't need paper at all. They are a great color and have a great texture to them.

Lastly is a 4th of July layout. I took a ton of photos last year, so rather than the typical 4th of July layout, I decided to focus instead on Payton's outfit with this one. I have a rusty star home decor item that I traced for the large star, and the smaller stars were made with pretty much the only Sizzix die I use. I have seen several 4th of July layouts using this Jenni Bowlin paper, and I decided to do so too. This paper is perfect for that!

Speaking of the 4th of July, what are your plans? We are headed to Bend for the Pet Parade. This is a popular parade. It features people and their pets, and people without their pets. Sometimes we take our yellow lab, Cooper, but this year we aren't. We are just going to decorate the red wagon and have the kids ride in it. There are always a TON of people who line the streets to watch, and a TON of people who are in the parade. My kids get a kick out of it which is the only reason we brave an hour on the hot blacktop as we organize and line up, and then another hour to walk. At least it feels like an hour.

After the parade we'll jet down south to Sunriver for the Fireman's picnic. We've been going there since 1997. AirLife will drop in and land right in the middle of the festivities for people to tour through, if they aren't busy, and because it's a fundraiser for the volunteers in Sunriver, the firetrucks will all be there and they'll play water games if the weather is warm. There's also three legged races, etc., a bouncy house, and who can forget the barbecue! Hamburgers and dogs, and ice cream bars for dessert. It's a good time.

That may seem like a busy morning, but we usually jam pack the entire day, and this year decided to slow it down a bit. After the picnic we'll go home for a few hours and nap some kids, and then we are headed to a barbecue and fireworks at a local fireman's home. Usually we are still in town until the fireworks are over at 10:30pm!

Anyway.... did you sign up for that Family Fun newsletter!? Did you sign up for the kitchen newsletter?! I did, and the other day received a newsletter full of fun 4th of July food ideas. I'm excited, because Morgan and I are going to make these tomorrow:

Don't they look fun! What a great way to feed kids cupcakes! Morgan and I are going to make them tomorrow and take them to the barbecue. There were tons of great ideas in that newsletter! If you haven't, you should sign up. You can do it here.

Have a great day! Davinie
