Starting a new chapter

On Wednesday I resigned from a career of 12.5 years.  I wanted to be able to spend a bulk of the summer playing with my girls before I start student teaching next fall.  I'll be graduating in May 2013 with a Master's Degree and Teaching Certificate and I couldn't be more excited for what the future holds.  I love the crafting industry, but in the end, I want to renovate my house and take my kids on tropical vacations.  ;)  I've also always had a strong pull to work with kids all day, to inspire them to know more and do better.  I think they need me.  :)

Most people who visit here do so in the name of crafts, so I wanted to also share that after 5 years I will no longer be on the team for Studio Calico.  The August kit will be my last.  I have loved being part of this community.  Payton's first words could have been "Studio Calico".  I have never been more inspired or had as much fun in this industry as I did in 2007 and 2008, in particular, when this club and this community was first established.  I'll forever hold that and the friends I have made at SC in my heart.  I have more inside jokes than I can count and not a day goes by that I don't think about something that someone said online at SC.

Does this mean I won't be crafting and sharing artwork with the crafting community if I'm not sharing kit work for SC every month?  No, it doesn't.  I can't tell you how excited I am to have more opportunities to chose my own products and create when it works for me.  I haven't had a day off in 5 years.  I've taken kits on family vacations more than once.  I look forward to being rejuvenated and inspired and moving forward.

Off to new adventures.  XOXO

Davinie

  16. Kudos to you for making a big change that will give you some more leeway to your family life. We'll miss your Studio Calico projects. I hope you'll still contribute to SCT? You're the one who got me hooked on adding stitching to my pages (although not nearly as well as you do!).
Wishing you continued success! Hopefully we'll be hearing stories about your classroom soon. :)
