Studio Calico February and a Fancy Pants sneak

I have been so busy! I can't begin to tell you how busy I've been. I have been creating so much this month! I just can't show everything yet. I can now share my Studio Calico work for February, though.

I took these photos of my girls at a nearby Reindeer ranch right after they talked to Santa and made their Christmas wishes. I love candid shots!

Here's a closeup of my "snowflakes". I traced a circle and trimmed them out with some scalloped deco scissors. I trimmed some of the pattern from the Sassafras Lass paper, layered it on top, and then hand stitched the Pure Nirvana Antique Copper Charms by Imaginisce.

To do something different I traced a bowl on the back of my October Afternoon patterned paper to make a big curve. I trimmed it out and then flipped over the little scrap of paper to make a fun decorative edge. I then followed the line of the OA paper and hand stitched.

I am so behind in my scrapping! This is Payton at 3 months old. I took photos of my kids every month with the same stuffed animal to document their growth. These are some of Pj's outtakes. I can't believe how time has flown! She will be 2 next month!

Have you ever played with Grungeboard before? It is the most interesting stuff! It's chipboard with fun polka dot texture on top, and you can bed it and manipulate it any way you want. The possibilities are endless! Check out what Tim is doing this month with his heart shaped grungeboard here. How fun is that? With mine, I simply wrapped the heart with the K&Company ribbon tape, punched a hole with my Cropadile, and added a brad and a little rubon from October Afternoon that I layered on cardstock. Easy!

I played with 8 1/2 x 11 with this little number. I added some buttons on the polka dots, and for fun, stitched around some of them. I thought it was a fun detail. Don't be afraid to mix patterns. I think the Hambly polka dots looks just fine next to this Sassafras Lass patterned paper, even though they are both polka dots and they don't line up.

I saw the owls on the Sassafras Lass paper and immediately thought "Who's your Daddy?" So this is a play on that line. I refer to Steve as "daddy" rather than saying his name when the girls are around, so this card works for us. I might save it for Father's Day. I love the color combo. That's Hambly woodgrain paper up top. Such a fun sheen to that one.

A simple card. That brown stripe is the Hambly paper on the reverse.

I loved all the different botanical patterns in this kit so I trimmed out some of the leaves from the Autumn Leaves paper, used an October Afternoon rubon on some of the cardstock, and added a grungeboard butterfly.

The butterfly is two separate pieces of grungeboard. I simply added a quick coat of Li'l Davis glitter glaze and then put one of the super cute MM brads in the center. See the polka dots on that grungeboard? So cute!

Lastly, I was asked to make some booth samples for Fancy Pants Designs' booth at CHA. I have more to share, but for now I wanted to show you two layouts using the new "About a Boy" line from Fancy Pants. I was immediately drawn to some of the fun new felt shapes that went well with this line. I felt I needed some boy pictures so I asked my little sister if I could scrap a couple pictures of my nephew, Kael. He's such a cutie! I think I'll scrap him more often. It was nice to use something besides pink. That said, I also scrapped a photo of Payton with this line of papers, so it works well with either boy or girl photos.

Next week I'll be able to share some other projects I've been working on. I have been fortunate enough to have an opportunity to create some projects for Pink Paislee, a new manufacturer debuting next week at the CHA convention. Oh my gosh, this stuff is delicious! The Office Lingo line has pinks and oranges, with a touch of blue, and that great office background that I love. The Spring Fling line has delicious aqua blues, yummy green and blue.. such a fun color combo. It's been a pleasure to work with it and I can't wait to share some of my projects with you! I will also be working their booth for a bit at the show, so be sure to check out the webcasts next week. EEK!

Well, tomorrow we are going to an all day event at my inlaws for Super Bowl. ... All of our friends get together and it has turned into such a fun event we decided to make it a daylong celebration. We have brunch, the guys play poker, I am in charge of the football pool, we eat and eat... and we watch a bit of football too. Should be fun!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
