My Birthday Boy

Yesterday was my Man's birthday. He turned 32. I am one month older than him, and he likes to remind me every year.
I will NEVER forget my 21st birthday, though. He decided to surprise me and take me to stay at Black Butte Ranch for the weekend... we went out for dinner and he insisted that I buy a drink. I didn't really know what to get but my dad was a fan of Amaretto Sour's so I ordered one of those. It was yummy. But what does my 20 year old manly man get? Milk. I had an Amaretto Sour, and he had MILK for dinner. And then after we left the restaurant he had me go buy him a 6 pack of beer. Um. Ya. He did. And I'll never forget it. lol
I've been with this boy since we were 19 years old. We met on New Years Eve of 1995 but didn't start dating until about a month later. And we've been attached at the hip ever since. We got married in 2000, had a puppy in the spring of 2001, and then Morgan was born in 2004 and Payton was born in 2006. This has been our 7 year itch of marriage, but it hasn't been bad, lol. The beautiful thing about being married in 2000 is that I'll never lose track of what year I'm on, lol.
Steve is a firefighter/paramedic. Right now he works 24/48's which means he's on from 9am to 9am the next day, and then had the rest of that day and the next day off before he goes back again. It is starting to get busier in the town where we live so he has been having a hard time catching up on rest before he heads back to work, and doesn't feel like he gets a lot done here at home on his days off. A nearby town is trying a different schedule where they are on 48 hours at one point but then have 4 days off, and I hope Redmond adopts that schedule. I think. 48 hours with now help with the kiddos is a lot, but it would be nice to have him home 4 days! We just bought a camp trailer in January, so it would be nice to take it out on the weekend and not have to take vacation time. But at $4 a gallon for diesel, we might be camping in our front yard, lol.

The girls and I made him a fun birthday card. I think artwork is such a fun thing to include so I trimmed a piece of white cardstock and gave it to Morgan to create a drawing. That's a picture of her daddy with a party hat on. So cute! I used some fun new American Crafts paper and a Hambly rubon for this card.

Have a great weekend! I saw a fun Easter treat idea and I'll try and do it in the morning and post it before Easter. If not, have a great weekend and a wonderful Easter Sunday! We host an annual Easter party and I hope it's great fun. Let's cross our fingers that the weather holds up! As it is the kids will need their parka's over their Easter dresses, lol.

  6. Happy Birthday to your hubby, Davinie!!

As I read your post, I had to laugh because you could have been writing about my life! My DH turns 32 next month but we started dating when I was 19, were married in 1999, had Samantha in 2003 and Madison in 2004. Plus, I can totally relate to the funky work schedule stuff...DH is a cop, so he switches between graves/days/swings/Mon-Fri/Weekends. Crazy, LOL!
