A Spring Home Decor project you can do with your kiddos

Have you seen my new banner? Blogger went and made it much more user friendly to change your banner so I did so really quickly with a spring project I made with my kids. I was inspired by a sticker book in Oriental Trading magazine for a fun and easy spring home decor project that you can do with your children. This is one of my projects for Worldwin this month. I made mine with Morgan, who just turned 4, and Payton, who will be 2 this month.

I started with this as the base. I hand cut my trees from Worldwin Colormates cardstock and mounted it on blue and green Colormates cardstock. The size of my project is 6x8. I then machine stitched through the chipboard that it is all mounted on. I have never done it before but my sewing machine and my needle had no trouble going through. That certainly makes it easier, and I like the more finished look that machine stitching adds to a project.

I then took my two handy new Martha Stewart punches and trimmed flowers and butterflies in different spring colors.

Because I don't have this punch yet:
I hand cut some green leaves from more cardstock.

I then let each kid decorate their spring tree as they wished. What I love most about this project is that you can't "mess up". It doesn't matter where you place your embellishments, it looks perfect either way.
This is my finished tree. I added a couple of Heidi Swapp flower jewels just for fun, and because I knew that Morgan would think they were a hot item.

And here's the finished look. After we were done decorating I used my Cropadile to punch some holes, added some ribbon, and then hung them from a curtain rod in my living room. Such a cute project! I like where Morgan put her flower jewels, and I think PJ did an awesome job with a gluestick on her tree.

Have a great Sunday! The kids are going to spend a few hours with Grandma and Grandpa this afternoon while hubby and I have a date. We have some early birthday shopping to do for Payton, and then I think we are going to the movies. I've been wanting to see Juno, but it's been so long since I've been to a movie I don't even care what we see, really. I'm not sure what is even out today... I guess I'd better check that, lol.
Take care!
