Scraplifting...... myself

Have you ever scraplifted? Ever done it for a challenge? Have you ever done it to get out of a scrapbooking rut? Is it something you commonly do? I have to say, I NEVER do it. I don't know why. I just don't. I always just look at the photos and the paper I want to use and go from there. For me it never starts with the design. The design comes from the other elements. That said, with my May kit from Studio Calico, I created a layout that I had so much fun with, I ended up using the same design over and over. And I created three completely different layouts. I had so much fun with the design I might do it again, lol.

It all started with this layout. I just loved the photos, so I wanted them really close together. I had fun stitching my journaling lines, and I liked the visual triangle I made with my black stickers and blackboard.

Not long after that I was playing with some Worldwin where I need to use a lot of Ruche. I had been staring at some new Jenni Bowlin papers for a while but hadn't used them, and I just decided to go for it with a similar design.

Can you see the similarities? Photos mounted on paper in the middle bottom of the layout. Elements on the upper right to draw the eye around the page.

This brings me to this layout. I just posted this one today. I was looking around in my folders for something and came across it. I had forgotten about this one. But it's the same design. This one has the stitched journaling lines, and it also has the photos, centered, matted over paper.

3 completely different layouts. It shows how loosely "scraplifting" can be interpreted. You might not even first realize that they had anything to do with each other because of the different papers and embellishments used. But I started with the same design.

I'm still playing with my July kit from Studio Calico! I'll be posting sneaks soon.

P.S. I got an email this morning that my firstborn son is going to be on the cover of Scrapbook Trends in September. I am so excited about this and can't wait to see it!

Ooh. And one more thing. Look at what showed up in my mailbox today!

It's a necklace made from a scrabble tile. Isn't it just adorable!? I happened across this seller on Etsy called deciduoussoul and have been mooning over her necklaces. The other day, I finally spied my house. The crooked house on a hill. That's me! It just came in the mail today and it's just so darn cute. Morgan loves it too so I might have to get another one for her.

That's it!

Have a great Wednesday!

That Etsy seller was one of the very first one I ever favorited. I have followed her stuff (but never bought) for a looooong time. I really think she has such a talent. Lucky you to get a necklace! YEAH!
