Studio Calico So Cal - the reveal

Welcome to summer with the June kit from Studio Calico, So Cal (not that it's summer here.  We got SNOW on our ski hill the other day, lol).  I got Venice Beach, Malibu, and Santa Monica this month.

This is a really pretty kit and I wish I had spent more time playing with it.  It works great for boy or girl, and has some delicious summer colors.   I really liked the oranges.

First up is my main kit layout for the month.  I decided to celebrate miss Payton Jayne and her 6th birthday:

I cut the title and the 6 with my Cameo and made it a two pager.  The photos of her and her birthday cake really showed her quirky little personality and I had to use them all.  That fun (aka Sassafras) paper made it come together easily and didn't require much in the way of embellishment, but I had to add one of the exclusive die cuts to add some texture. I cut it and used it on the left side of the layout too.

Suggestion?  MORE SC paper

This next one has a lot of product from Venice Beach, which is add-on 4.  Like bubble stamps?  Want 9 of them?  GET this add-on.  These little stamps were so fun!

#3 for me this month was a layout inspired by a photo I snapped on Easter.  We host a gathering and there were kids hunting eggs at lightning speed all over the place.  I barely captured Morgan racing by and as I looked at the photo, it brought to mind other things to say to her, so I created this layout in order to do that.  It really doesn't have anything to do with Easter.  I love when a photo can do that:

And that was it for me!  I did use the kit for one more layout and you'll see it when the June PageMaps goes live, I'm guessing June 1.

Have a great night!  Davinie

Memorial Day So Cal sneaks

Happy Saturday!

Happy Memorial Day and thank you for your service to all troops AND their families who make sacrifices so I can blog and talk about frivolous things like cutting paper to bits.  Not all people have that luxury.

And with that.....

I have some Studio Calico So Cal sneaks to share!!!  I picked up Santa Monica, Malibu, and Venice Beach, in addition to the main kit.  I'd also highly recommend more SC paper yet again this month.  I'm really digging the exclusives.

On to sneaks:

This is my main kit sneak this month, and I think it's my favorite layout of the bunch.  There were a lot of fun embellies to choose from which made this layout come together really fast.

One more thing that's making an appearance to my house with the next kit?  Something I should have purchased years ago?  The Stamp press.

One of the things that stresses me out about stamp work is even coverage.  Obviously that press is going to make things much easier for me.  I might even have more even arm muscles because right now the left side gets a lot more of a workout than the right.  ha!

That's it for me this month for kit work!  I've been busy with other projects, including playing with Heyday.  Here's a nibble at something I'll be sharing with you soon:

What I can tell you is that this collection is my favorite release from Studio Calico to date.  The color palette is just delicious and there are a lot of fun matching embellishments that go with it.  LOVE.  You should definitely check it out.

Before I go I wanted to send you to a couple of fun destinations should you be playing around online this weekend.  The first:

Go to Blowfish Shoes.  25% off AND free shipping this weekend!  I just picked up some super cute sandals and I can't wait to get them here.

Another spot to visit is Karen Russell's blog post here.  She has links to Erin Cobb and her Facebook page.  Erin is celebrating a new business page with a ton of giveaways which includes a seat in one of Karen's classes.  I've taken classes from both talented women and this is a giveaway you don't want to miss out on.

Lastly, I found this blog post via the 2peas newsletter.  What a great idea for a fun Bucket List of summer fun for your family.  Check that out and download it for free.

And that's it!  I hope you have a beautiful weekend!

Words on Wednesday - Flawed

Sometimes my stitching does come undone, but I'm sure that's true for all of us.

My girls are in some serious emotional stages right now.  I don't know if they start getting hormonal at 6 and 8 but oh my, no wonder Steve keeps taking the overtime shifts.  HA!  I like to think it's because we are super busy and they are just tired.  Me too.  Only a couple more weeks of softball and school, and then it's just us and SUMMERTIME.

Happy Wednesday!

P.S.  I love how the quote was pieced together, don't you?  Easy to do with the Cameo, for sure.

Words on Wednesday - She

Pinned

I needed a little push.  This school thing is hard, lol.  There just aren't enough hours in the day.  But I'm 5+ months in and I see a light at the end of the tunnel for summer vacation!  I'm also quitting my day job at the same time so things are going to feel great in a couple of months!

Have a great Wednesday!

P.S.  Canadian friends in the BC/Burnaby area, have you registered for Crop & Create?

Brownie winner and a little sneak

FIRST:  I apologize for the delay. Is this you?

Nadine said...

thank you so much for the chance!

Miss Nadine, Congratulations!  You are going to love the Brownie Add-on.  I hope you had a wonderful National Scrabook Day!!

SECOND:  HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.  Actually, that should be first, but you know what I mean.  I hope all Mom's had a day filled with pampering and really well-behaved kids.  :)  Payton gifted me with this fabulous piece of artwork this morning:

I love the process they used for their art...  paint, but with paper strips to make the clothing.  I'm fond of my little choker necklace, but my favorite part is the little hair clip.  I also appreciate that this was laminated and there are two little poems on the back, one with the traditional handprint, so I'll be able to fold this in half to save.  Love that.

and because I always seem to have photos of Payton but never enough of Morgan, check her out just before she jump roped in the Second Grade talent show (to Dynomite, of course, lol - I think half the kids did a number to this song, most of them, surprisingly, break-dancing boys).

This top would be here Diva costume from Halloween.  Love her.

ONE MORE THING FOR TODAY:

As a little Mother's Day gift from Studio Calico, from now until Midnight EST tomorrow night (that's 9pm PST on Monday night), enter code MomDay10 and you will receive 10% off your purchase at Studio Calico.  10% is 10%!  There aren't promo's like this too often, so if there's something that's caught your eye (Maybe new Heidi Swapp goodies so you can make your own memory file for all those bits of artwork from the kiddos?) be sure to check it out in the shop.

Before I go, I have a lovely sneak peek to share.  This is a nibble at add-on 4, Venice Beach, from the June kit from Studio Calico, So Cal.

The stamps in this add-on are a must have!  FYI - the set has 9.  :)

As always, don't forget to check out the blog for the Sneak Night giveaway!  Mpix!

Have a great night!

It's Scrapbook and Cards Today's turn! Happy NSD!

Looking for the Studio Calico blog hop?  Check below.

National Scrapbook Day wouldn't be complete without more inspiration!  I had one of the many challenges posted at SCT today, and decided to challenge you based on a layout I made for the Spring issue of SCT (which you can download for free HERE):

Check out my challenge at the SCT blog here.  I hope you'll play along!

Have a blast this weekend!  Davinie

NSD at SC - These Days...

Happy National Scrapbook Day!  Happy Saturday!  Happy Cinco de Mayo!  Happy school day?  boo.  I hope you are having a wonderful day, crafting away, while I learn more about teaching during a Saturday class. lol.

Studio Calico is chalk full of challenges and inspiration today, so I hope you will check out the site and participate.  I hope to check in this evening sometime when I get home.

First I wanted to share another main kit only layout from 35mm:

The 35 mm kit is now sold out, but we thought it would be fun to share more main kit only ideas with you all.  If you missed out on 35mm and are interested in subscribing, be sure to email waitinglist@studiocalico.com to be added to the list for the June kit.  As expected, it's pretty great too.  ;)

A blog hop wouldn't be complete without an opportunity for a prize, so while you can't pick up 35mm, I do have a little Brownie available!

Leave a comment here for a chance to win this great add-on (FYI - those circle stamps are separated in the real deal.  This image is a prototype).  Such fun possibilities with this add-on and the addition of those Heidi Swapp flolders!  LOVE the color palette too.

There are a few of us on the hop today, each with a chance at an add-on, so check out the links below and hop on!
ME

If you get lost, go to the Studio Calico blog.  That is also headquarters for the NSD mania, and there are several challenges and opportunities for prizes as well.  I have challenge posted and will be sharing more about my project tomorrow.  I am SO excited about it and hope you will play along with me!

ONE MORE THING!  Be sure to take time to head to the Scrapbook and Cards Today magazine blog!  There is a LOT of fun going on there today as well, with challenges and prizes too!  I will be back later today to share a fun challenge for you from SCT so be sure to check back.  New challenges will be posted hourly!

Enjoy the day!  See you in a bit.
